Guava Brown Betty
Ingredients
¾ pt stewed guavas 2 oz margarine 5 oz dry breadcrumbs 2½ oz sugar 1/3 tsp grated nutmeg 1/3 tsp ground cinnamon juice of 1 lemon or lime
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt the margarine and blend with the breadcrumbs. Combine the sugar and the spices. Grease a pie dish and sprinkle a layer of crumbs at the bottom. Cover with a layer of stewed guavas, sprinkle with spice and sugar. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up, ending with breadcrumbs. Mix the lemon or lime with a tablespoon of water and pour over the pudding. Bake in a moderate oven, 350 degrees Fahrenheit, for 20 minutes. Serve warm with coconut cream. Serves 12
